Review: I ditched coffee for this

Ever since my time in college, I have been completely addicted to coffee. Late night essays and chronic procrastination were nursed by freshly brewed pots of coffee, keeping me up into the wee hours of the morning. This habit turned into a steady consumption of 2-4 cups of coffee every day. But at a certain point, I’d had enough– my body was rejecting the mass amounts of caffeine and I was experiencing intense anxiety. I knew I had to quit, but I wasn’t ready to do it cold-turkey. 

That’s when I heard about MUD\WTR, a coffee-alternative made up of organic ingredients with only 1/7 the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee, so you’ll get that nice little boost of energy without the unwanted jitters or harsh crash. MUD\WTR sounded pretty enticing, with delicious ingredients including cocoa, masala chai, turmeric, and cinnamon. It also has adaptogenic mushrooms that promote things like alertness and immunity. All around, it seemed like a pretty unique product, so I decided to order it and give it a try. Spoiler alert: I am obsessed.

So, my MUD\WTR was delivered to my door in a cute little package with these fun stickers. The packaging is super pretty and sleek, and it even came with a sample of their coconut “:creamer”, and their electronic frother called a “\whip”! So I went to my kitchen to prepare my first cup, and it was honestly way easier to make than a cup of coffee. I just boiled some water, measured out a tablespoon of the MUD\WTR, six grams of :creamer, mixed it all together with the \whip, and voila! A beautiful, frothy MUD\WTR latte lay before me. 

And let me just say… I fell in love on the first sip. The cocoa and masala chai blend together to create this amazingly delicious mocha-y goodness. And the mushrooms, turmeric, and himalayan sea salt give it these perfect savory, earthy undertones. It’s just as satisfying as a regular espresso latte, if not more! I immediately knew that kicking my coffee addiction would be no problem at all. 

Not only does MUD\WTR taste amazing, but I can tell it has already had such an amazing physiological effect on me every morning. The tiny little boost of caffeine is all I need to kickstart my day, and I love that each mushroom is designed to have its own beneficial properties. The Lion’s Mane supports alertness, Cordyceps supports physical performance, and the Chaga and Reishi support your immune system. What more could you want?! And I can truly see the difference in my mental state. I have never felt so refreshed and at peace in the morning, and I really only have  MUD\WTR to thank. I’m so happy that I can finally kiss goodbye to coffee-induced anxiety forever!
