Oura: Is it Worth the Hype?

I don’t know about you, but I could walk five steps without hearing someone talk about the Oura Ring. Like, my best friend once told me it was her most prized possession only after her dog. To be honest with you, I wasn’t even entirely sure what it does, but my friend said it’d be helpful to me since I struggle with exhaustion and insomnia. After her pitch and generally hearing enough hype around the Oura Ring, I was curious to try it out myself.

So I bought my Oura ring, and the first thing I noticed was how much I love that it is a ring. I’m used to wearing a fitbit, which has always felt rather clunky to me, so the fact that this health tracker is so stylish and sleek was a big selling point for me. The second thing I found, which surprised me, is that the Oura ring is next-level HIGH technology. Like, you wear it for two weeks so that it accurately comprehends your baseline metrics and then it’s able to do SO. MUCH. There’s two LED sensors, two negative thermal body temperature sensors, a 3D accelerometer, and a gyroscope. I genuinely cannot believe that much can fit in such a compact little ring!

The mobile app that it connects to gives you all kinds of amazing health insights while you’re awake and asleep. It measures things like activity levels, calories, steps, inactive times, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature, and so much more. And all of this data is highly, highly accurate. It also analyzes your readiness, sleep, and activity, giving you insight into how to best improve your lifestyle and habits to optimize your health and productivity. The battery lasts a long time, it’s waterproof, and it’s super lightweight. 

My life has genuinely improved so much since wearing my Oura ring, and it is indeed worth all the hype. I now have a much better understanding of my overall health, I’ve been getting better sleep, recovering more effectively, and increasing my activity levels. I feel all around so much happier and more energized, and that to me is worth every penny.
