3 Sleep Hacks That Tremendously Improved My Sleep

Let me just premise this by saying that I have never been a deep sleeper. Like, I couldn’t even have a fan on while at night. Which is a problem considering I constantly overheat while I sleep. Combine that with the fact that I live in a city, so it’s never silent. Needless to say, over the years I’ve had to seek out creative solutions to solve my sleep problems… And I’ve decided to let you in on a few of my favorite sleep-enhancing secrets.

1. Turn Off Devices an Hour Before Bed

As someone who struggles with insomnia and anxiety, it is integral before bed to turn off my phone, computer, television, or whatever other miscellaneous electronic device I’m fiddling with that day. Over the years, I’ve learned that doing this an entire hour before my ideal sleep time is most effective. Something about ridding any bright light for an extended period of time works like magic. Preventing any notifications from popping up and inducing stress is also a big help.

2. DreamCloud Mattress

I CANNOT express to you in words how obsessed I am with this mattress. It’s by far the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever had the pleasure of sleeping on. Because it is a hybrid of gel memory foam, breathable coils, and a cashmere-blend cover, it provides the extremely rare combination of both supreme comfort and cooling properties. Because it’s a hybrid of materials, it’s the perfect combination of firm and cushioned. Plus, it’s contoured to support your natural back arch. The price is pretty unbeatable, and you get a 365-day trial if you decide you want to send it back! But trust me, you won’t.

3. Exercise Regularly
This one is huge. Pushing your body to exert physical energy during the day totally helps me fall asleep at night. Your body wants recovery after exercising, and sleep is exactly that. Exercise also releases endorphins to your brain, which really eases my anxiety and helps prevent lying awake in bed contemplating my existence until 4am.

Update: DreamCloud is giving our readers $200 Off + $399 in accessories for their first order.
